What does Michigan No Fault Insurance Really Mean?
Michigan law requires you to have no-fault automobile insurance on your car. If you have an accident, this required insurance pays for injuries to people and for damages your car does to other people's property and to properly parked cars. IT DOES NOT PAY FOR ANY OTHER DAMAGE TO CARS.
What changed with No Fault Reform in 2020?
Under the new law, after July 1, 2020, drivers must select whether they wish to continue with “unlimited” coverage or whether they'd like to cap their coverage at $50,000 (if they are enrolled in Medicaid), $250,000 or $500,000.
IF I select a lower PIP Coverage why do I have to sign the forms every renewal?
Farm Bureau is required to have a new PIP selection form on file for the state at every renewal. This is to protect the clients to make sure they know the coverage they have and give them an opportunity to make changes to their PIP coverages. We must also get updated insurance information for anyone who opts out as people change their medical coverage often and we need to make sure the coverage still fits in the state law guidelines.
